The Alexander von Humboldt Professor Matthias Tschöp will spend face-to-face time with the Campus Talks audience on 17 March. Researchers explain their work in a nutshell during the programme which is broadcast on ARD-alpha, the education channel of the ARD television company. Each visitor has 13 minutes to explain the focus of his or her research to an audience of laypersons - without the help of PowerPoint charts or teleprompters: They must make their presentation without notes.
Tschöp, a medical scientist, has been conducting research at the Institute for Diabetes and Obesity at the Helmholtz Zentrum München and the Technische Universität München since 2012. At Campus Talks the Humboldt Professor will present his research on diabetes and explain the mechanisms in the brain that govern diabetes - and the new approaches to solutions for treating diabetes that he has come upon during his work.
ARD-alpha is Germany’s only educational TV channel. The station broadcasts classic educational television programmes such as “Telekolleg” and language courses, shows and magazine programmes on science, history, art and discussion formats like Campus Talks. The list of Humboldtians who were guests of the Campus Talks show prior to Matthias Tschöp includes the research fellow Stefani Engelstein, the Humboldt Professor Oliver Brock and the former Feodor Lynen Fellow Petra Schwille.
Broadcast dates: 17 March 2015 at 7:00 p.m., 18 March 2015 at 9:30 a.m. and 21 March 2015 at 2:30 p.m. on the ARD-alpha channel on television or on the Internet.
